About Me

I am Jessica Flint, a New Jersey State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have a general practice working with adults and specialize in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders in women.

I practice Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, or “talk therapy,” explores present and past relationships and experiences. Talk therapy explores patterns of behavior, unresolved issues and an acknowledgement of hard and reoccurring feelings. Therapy helps you understand the link between behaviors and feelings.

I graduated New York University in 2006 with a Master of Social Work degree. After completing my clinical work in New York City, I held several jobs there before starting my private practice in New Jersey in May of 2011.

As a former musician, I enjoy working with artists and musicians. I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance and sang opera professionally for many years. I truly understand the highs and lows of the professional music business.

I am certified to supervise Master of Social Work students and licensed social workers in need of clinical hours. I work within a psychodynamic model, but draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and incorporate this therapy in my work. I have completed trainings with the Postpartum Stress Center and Postpartum Support International.

However, regardless of the modalities used, it is the relationship with the therapist that is the most important piece of effective treatment. If you feel comfortable with your therapist, that in itself is a good step in feeling better.
